I have an Iomega Zip 100 Parallel port drive that can read and write but cannot format in XP. Using the same computer, I installed both 95 and 98 and in both OS the drive can perform all its read/write and format functions. My machine is using an intel board D845GEBV2 with 2.4 Ghz P4 processor and 512 MB ram. I have another machine with ASUS board and a 533 MHZ P3 processor and 128 MB ram. Installed all 3 OS in machine and transferred my ZIP drive to this machine. Result is same as first machine. Contacted Iomega and their suggestion is that I have a faulty drive which is illogical as drive performs well in 2 OS in 2 different machines and it is only in XP that it cannot format. If anybody is aware of this problem, any help from you will be highly appreciated. Presently, I retained the W98 OS just for formatting my ZIP disk and use XP for all of my computer needs.
