I have a 1GB USB key and a 300GB WD External HD that I have been using to store and watch movies on my two samsung TV's. Both TV's have a USB media port capable of viewing Movies/Photos and music. There was no problem until after watching a movie on the USB stick, I went to my IMAC to copy a new movie to watch. The movie would not fit so I formatted the key using the IMAC disk utility (why did I format, because I did not realize that after deleting files on an IMAC, the space is not made available until after removing the items from the trash. Live and Learn).Anyway, the was copied and it was readable on both MAC and PC but when put on the TV, the device was detected but no media was found(movie). I then tried it on my other samsung TV and same problem. I then proceeded to try other media, pictures music & movies, still not found. I then tried my External HD that worked previously on both TV's figuring that it was a format issue on the USB key, still not working. I then tried to re-format both devices on my PC in all formats, Fat, Fat32, NTFS as well as different data block sizes, still not found on TV's. Both devices can be read and writted on both PC and MAC during these tests. I think that the initial MAC format on the USB key being attempted to play on both TV's has corrupted them. Does this sound logical?????

They make versions for other brands of TV. Check the developer's web site. The problem for me is there is no way to test the product without buying it because the developer is using the Mac App Store. I think this is penny wise and pound foolish. The price is not unreasonable, but I'm not inclined to spend $10 for a pig in a poke. So I have to say, no try, no buy. There's another way to stream you computer screen to your TV. If you hook up your network WiFi router to the TV via Ethernet cable, the TV should see that as an additional input source. Once you select that source you computer screen should show up on your TV. I set this up for a friend using a five year old Sony smart TV and a Mac mini. You should be able to use your television's remoter control to switch between sources. And there is no lag between the computer and the TV. The one reviewer for this product on the App Store mentioned latency as his only issue. Of course if your router is out of cable range of your TV then this might be a viable alternative. But caveat emptor.
