I got one that was dead out of the box and the other gets really hot and requires a driver upgrade to not use 60% of cpu. Which very few people even know about and it does not update itself.

      Not really gigabit

This adapter is only recognized as a 100BaseTX, even if you try to set it manually. Returned it and bought a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter sinc This adapter is only recognized as a 100BaseTX, even if you try to set it manually. Returned it and bought a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter since I already had an old Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter from Apple. This combo may not be elegant, but it gives me full gigabit speed.

As described, but beware of bad drivers

This adapter gets the job done. However, on OS X Mountain Lion and Sierra I had to update the Realtek chipset driver to fix a kernel panic problem. Unfortunatel This adapter gets the job done. However, on OS X Mountain Lion and Sierra I had to update the Realtek chipset driver to fix a kernel panic problem. Unfortunately the Apple review system won't let me paste links, but if you google 'rtl8153 driver update time' the first link (in my search results) takes you to a download page. Version 1.0.15 was crashing, and version 1.0.16 (released Nov 16 2016) has the fix.

The solution I found was to connect an Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter AND an Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter in series. The only other choice would be to shell out $70 for Apple's combination adapter. Other than that problem, the Belkin adapter has worked flawlessly with every MacBook I connected it to. In fact, it worked fine with why Touch Bar MacBook Pro for every other connection over the past two years.

Long story sho I bought a new MB Pro with Touch Bar. I need ethernet to connect to our enterprise network. Was recommended this dongle at the Local apple store. Long story short: it does not work. After going through all kinds of troubleshooting with my local IT group, we concluded that it was a piece of junk out of the box.

Why is Apple selling a faulty adaptor in stores?

I've used one of these adaptors for nearly two years now on my MBP 13,3 and occasionally it wouldn't be recognized but when I removed and re-plugged it worked. I've used one of these adaptors for nearly two years now on my MBP 13,3 and occasionally it wouldn't be recognized but when I removed and re-plugged it worked. Now it fails to be recognized so I went to the Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo and brought a new one, which also is not recognized at all. Every other USB adaptor I have works fine. I left the box in the store because it was overpackaged bulk and now I have a new adaptor that doesn't work at all. I can't believe this is sold in Apple Stores.
